Things to Do

If you get tired of watching the world go by from a rocking chair on our balcony or front porch, here are a few ideas:

White Lake is 10 minutes away, and is a very popular family vacation destination.

A shallow, natural spring-fed lake with crystal-clear water, White Lake hosts the annual Water Festival in May, as well as an international triathlon every April. During the summer season, there are many fun family-oriented distractions, including swimming, water skiing, miniature golf, a large water slide, an arcade, and an ice cream shop.

Lu Mil Vineyard produces wine made from native Muscadine grapes. Their gift shop and tasting room is open daily, and they host many weddings, reunions, and other events.

Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery hosts weddings, receptions, and other special events. The Vineyard includes a restaurant and extensive gardens.

Jones Lake State Park is 10 minutes away, and offers free public access to a beautiful and well-preserved natural lake. Activities include swimming, hiking, fishing, camping, and nature programs.

Elwell Ferry is a free cable ferry operated by the State of North Carolina, traversing the Cape Fear River 25 minutes south of Elizabethtown. With a capacity of two cars, it’s a fun experience for kids and adults alike.

Other great places to visit, farther afield:

   Wilmington – one hour away

Southport – one hour and fifteen minutes away
